It's not that long (months, not years) since I saw a Buffet Basset
clarinet in Howarths.

Certainly I recall them saying that they tried to keep it in stock - or
at least I have a memory of this.

The certainly do with the Buffet Basset horn.

It is possible that I did have the wrong catalog. It was more Kloc's
reaction to my question about why there were no basset clarinets in the
catalog that caused my mindset. Keep in mind that a basset clarinet is
a
soprano clarinet and should have been present along with all the
jillions of
other soprano clarinets, while a basset horn is not and may well belong
in a
separate catalog.

Just to be sure---Buffet has two different catalogues, one for the
soprano clarinets (Bb, A, C, Eb and D) and one for the "harmony"
instruments which were, last time I looked (which was some time ago)
basset clarinet in A, basset horn, bass clarinet and contra-alto
clarinet. You're sure you didn't just have the wrong catalogue?
