Last night, the combination of Eddie Daniels and Larry Combs played Il
Convegno with accompaniment of a string quartet plus bass to an audience who
had the pleasure of hearing the work played the night before by Morales and
a lovely and wonderful player who is the 2nd clarinet at the Met and who
kept up with every twist and turn that Morales made.

But the performance last also had Larry playing K. 581 on a basset clarinet
with barrel and bell by Morrie Backun. It is not worth my time and trouble
to tell you how magnificently he played. If he had played badly (which I
have never heard him do) I would have told you about it.

The Daniels had a jam session and the place went wild. All in all it was
quite an event. This morning I had breakfast with Bernd Wurlitzer who is
managing director of the Herbert Wurlitzer company. Pleasant and charming
man whose English is almost letter perfect. There were quite a number of
Reformed Boehm Wurlitzer players here in Norman.

Now, on the road and home.
