For any of you bio-scientists out there:

I've wondered if subjecting a mouthpiece (non-metal, of course) or a reed to
microwaves would kill disease-causing bacteria and viruses as well as
Sterisol or a similar product.

Might be a useful technique if the time needed to kill bacteria and viruses
in a microwave oven would be long enough to kill the bugs, but short enough
that the mouthpiece, cork, or reed wouldn't "cook."
