Established in 1854, Rhode Island College is a comprehensive mid-size
institution of approximately 8700 students. The 170-acre campus is
located in historic Providence, Rhode Island’s capital, with excellent
proximity to the academic and cultural resources of Boston and New York
City. The Atlantic coastline and Rhode Island’s breathtaking
Narragansett Bay offer the College community beaches, boating, and other
recreational opportunities.

The College has strong graduate and undergraduate professional programs
in several areas, including music. The Department of Music, Theater, and
Dance is a part of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The Music area
includes 11 full-time faculty and approximately 25 part-time
instructors, and offers a B.A. in Music, B.S. in Music Education, B.M.
in Performance, and an M.A.T. and M.M.E. in Music Education; and is a
member of N.A.S.M. There are approximately 120 undergraduates and 20
graduate students.

**CLARINET/SAXOPHONE, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
Fall 2005 *

Teach Applied Clarinet and Saxophone to undergraduate and graduate
students; direct woodwind chamber ensembles; actively recruit; and forge
strong community ties. Additional teaching responsibilities will depend
on the candidate’s areas of expertise and may include directing the
Concert Jazz Band or teaching in the Music Education program. *Required:
*Master’s degree in music or professional equivalent; demonstrated
success in teaching and performing; thorough knowledge of the
instruments and appropriate repertoire; and a record of success in
outreach and recruiting. *Preferred*: Doctorate in clarinet and/or
