The Ives trio is a single movement, intense, and quite short. I recall it
being in ABA form with a dramatic climax in the middle section. It works
well as part of a chamber music program with other longer, multi-movement
trios of a different character, such as the Milhaud or the Stravinsky, and
possibly also some classic or romantic solo literature for either the
clarinetist or the violinist.
