Klarinet Archive - Posting 000159.txt from 2005/06
From: "dnleeson" <dnleeson@-----.net> Subj: [kl] Somehow I passed my own test Date: Tue, 07 Jun 2005 18:28:34 -0400
I was asked to listen to a performance of a work that I had never
heard, and didn't know who wrote it. It's "Gnarly Buttons" and
after five minutes of it I got mad as hell because it seemed so
very repetitions and never went anywhere. Then, later I found
out that it was Adams, and I concluded that maybe my ear has not
gone completely south because I never liked anything of Adams for
exactly that reason. So hearing a work of his out of the blue
and coming to same conclusion, I felt that maybe I'm not dead
yet.
