Doing a recital isn't research.

It's hard work, no doubt, but research it is not.

A degree is an academic qualification, not a practical one. Or at least
that is what it should be.

Anyone who has earned a DMA from Iowa or any other respected music
school
knows exactly how much research is necessary to earn a doctorate. It is
no
cakewalk. Three recitals, original research paper ( thesis), etc. etc.
etc.
