Dear Joseph,
Maybe your "horn" is trying to tell you to give up your submarine life?
Seriously, it is a brand new instrument? What brand? The wood might just not
be sufficiently seasoned. Or do you neglect swapping?
It never ever happened to me with any of my 30+ wooden clarinets in 15
years.
Best regards,
danyel

Subject: [kl] A second crack?
My Bb clarinet is cracked, for the second time in its six-month life. The
first crack, from the tenon to the G# post, appeared after six weeks of
playing. That crack was pinned after being allowed to close completely.
The current crack parallels the first crack and runs from the tenon to the A
key's tone hole.
Can anyone who has experience with multiple cracks provide information on
this phenomenon? Is my clarinet trying to tell me something? Does this
portend a troublesome future? Will I have to buy a roll of baling wire and
a case of duct tape to keep the creature in one piece?
