You are missing the point.

We are discussing _prejudice_, and prejudice is directly related to
music in the sense that much of music (and musical history) is/was based
on the personal preferences of audience, composer and performer --- and
often of the moment and transitory, often based on _mis_communication.

This thread has fascinated me because it has revealed the breadth of
diametrically opposed emotional 'cargoes' that an even unmodified noun
can (and evidently does) carry for different persons.

If "pinkie" is an unfreighted noun for some of us, but is somewhat
disturbing for others of us, what should (can?) we say about musical
terms such as (say) "moderato"?

If you happen to dislike the "moderato" tempo, could you possibly be the
unconscious victim of (say) your own strong political motives? Or
could you unknowingly avoid the long fingerings because "pinkie" makes
your stomach churn a bit and playing music _does_ bring the subconscious
closer to the surface?

....altogether fascinating and worth the discussion....
