Suggestion to all......forget the expense!!

I was a Senior in college when I obtained my Amelotte C (ANY INFO ON AMELOTTE CLARINETS APPRECIATED!!!!). I was a Grad student when I obtained my R13 C. At niether time was a good steak on the table a possibility!

Both work radically better since I made a C mthpc for them.

I find it sheer delight to spend an evening playing Stamitz, or breaking out Jean-Jean, Magnani, Kroepsch, etc. and luxuriating in the playing of really FINE instruments. Rather than worry about the expense---BUY the very finest and just enjoy! After an evening of the fine tongue level changes needed for C (or alto!) I find Bb and A much more interesting to play fine nuances on.

One of the things that TRULY SPOILED me in this regard, was decades ago playing Danny Leeson's wonderful Selmer Bassett Horn at his house. What a WONDERFUL experience!

I would NOT suggest playing an inferior instrument for occassional C use.

For Eastern Clarinet though, Johnnie Chookasian plays a really MEAN Noblet(?).

If you haven't heard John---out of Fresno---"Little Armenia" ----California, it is a REAL treat---can reach him through information to find out where he is playing in the USA.
