No, I didn't know about the pet peeve. I was thinking that perhaps a
basset horn's narrower bore in relation to length somehow could
distinguish (for some people) "horn" from "clarinet". I've never
thought about exactly what makes a "horn" into a horn.

...anyway, I thought that perhaps there was something else that I was
missing.
