I took a gander at that Rite of Spring part.
Damn. I know why I never became a professional clarinetist. I just
don't see how some of that stuff is playable. It makes me appreciate
the 1812 that my band is working on for 4th of July. That's hard
enough!

How do you guys play that stuff? I would think there would be a lot of
pressure on a musician to play some really difficult part. I know in
community band, we tend to get frustrated at the percussion section or
the saxophone section if they can't play their part. I would imagine
it would be as bad in a symphony if the conductor was constantly
getting frustrated by the clarinet section (all 2 people of it!) if
they couldn't play some gawdawful piece of music. I have to think that
that would be stressful.
