Subj: [kl] Chris Weait's article on vibrato
Date: Wed, 01 Jun 2005 08:55:56 -0400

Yesterday I posted a message about a scholarly study that had
some similiarities to the posting of Tony Pay. In both cases,
fluroscopy was used on a performing musician to learn something
about how the body (more specifically the head and throat) were
used in playing.

I mentioned the work of Chris Weait and, by separate post, asked
him for the information about his technical paper, which examined
how vibrato was accomplished on a bassoon. His paper is
published in two versions and here are the details. One is in
English, the other in German:

Weait, C. and J. B. Shea. Vibrato: an audio-video-fluorographic
investigation of a bassoonist.
Applied Radiology, January/February 1977. Vol.6/1, p.89.

1990 Weait, C. with John B.Shea. “Vibrato: Eine
audio-video-fluorographische Studie beim Fagottisten”. German
version by R. Quandt, Tibia, Heft 4, p.265.

Hope this adds to the interest generated by Tony's submission of
a similar technical approach.
