..... Also, while some people don't want to transfer skin oil to the
reed or to 'compact' the reed's fibers, other people feel that rubbing
the reed with thumb or forefinger while the reed rests on a glass plate
(after rinsing the reed) compacts the fibers and reduces waterlogging.
