I agree, Steve. Here in northern Virginia (which is something akin to
swampland), reeds become waterlogged in less than a minute, anyway.
(okay, so I exaggerate, but ..) I don't like to use a new reed more than
a few seconds, though I will play a scale or two on each one. I put
each one through a routine every day to see how they "break in".

So far, I've found the Gonzalez cane to be excellent, as I have all the
Argen-donax, which I'm using right now. Of course, anything short of
plywood that plays in this rainforest I consider fortunate.
