That is an interesting analogy. Many of us care about reeds but don't
care about paint brushes. Therefore it seems reasonable to *us* that
discussing brushes may be a waste of time.... just as painters may
wonder why *we* spend so much time discussing reeds and sandpaper.

A entire book and video about..... sandpaper?! (the painter asks)
For heaven's sake, you slide the sandpaper across the reed until you
have the shape that you want.

Imo, both topics --- the reasons behind the music and the reasons behind
the equipment --- are worth discussing.
