Well, I haven't heard Tristan and Isolde; my friend had, and he was
telling me his interpretation of the music as part of his general
enthusiasm for Wagner's dramatic musicality. I don't think anyone had
told *him* this interpretation; it came to him naturally from listening.
Perhaps he's spoiled my opportunity to hear the work with open ears, but
I still liked his story. :-)
