Photoscore prefers grayscale while the other two that I've used, SmartScore
(more powerful version of MidiScan) and Sharpeye, work better with black and
white. Ability to control brightness is a definite plus, probably a
requirement, since some copy is printed too light to show up well at the
nominal standard brightness setting. You'd want to use the darkest setting
that doesn't produce noise on the page.
