I am hoping someone on the list can help. While playing with a group in
Richmond, Virginia, we did a piece called "Prince Igor" -- or Chappell's Army
Journal No. 428, Ballet Music from the Opera Prince Igor. The music would be
great for my current group (Minneapolis, Minnesota) to play ... audience
would
appreciate; it's difficult, etc., etc. HOWEVER -- Chappell's was sold to
another company (and who knows, maybe another after that), and that
particular
piece of music has not been available for some time. The original copyright
is
dated 1915 by Chappell & Co., Ltd., London; the copyright was renewed and
international copyrights were secured. The piece I played was printed in the
US.
Unfortunately, a local music company checked and found that not only is it
not
available, neither is an archived copy. I do not know if the copyright(s)
have expired, but they should have. So, I guess my question is, does anyone
on The List have any information about this piece? Or have access to it? We
would really love to have
it for our library. If you have any knowledge of this piece, please contact
me Thanks for any help you can give me!
