Concerning sight reading, I tell my students to keep track of three
things:

1) Remember the key signature.
2) Look ahead, beyond what you're playing. The faster the music, the
further ahead you must look....not unlike driving a car and needing to
look further ahead when driving faster.
3) Always count, and count like mad.
