Having come of age in the Vietnam era, I would say that at least in the area
of "protest", there were quite a number of songs that were war-specific. Off
the top of my head:

Where Have All the Flowers Gone?
Give Peace a Chance
Travelling Soldier

Can anyone else add to this list?

But presuming your premise is correct for the current war, another
explanation might be that, because we now have the "all volunteer" army and no draft,
the broad cultural consciousness of the cost of going to war hasn't risen to a
high enough level to provoke the creation of songs about it.
