I think what Karl is referring to would be the Berklee (note the spelling)
School of Music in Boston which has somewhat of a reputation for allowing
anyone into their program who is willing to pay their tuition. I also
believe they've headed towards a more pop/technology/recording engineer
emphasis in the recent years (not necessarily a bad way to go). Don't let
the famous jazz names fool you, though, many of them never received a diploma.

I have never heard of the "Berkeley Music Institute" and Google turns up
only bits and pieces of information.
