Hi Walter, I don't know if I'm getting old or whatever BUT I use to like
film scores before all the electronic music got involved and especially the
Beatles rock'n roll era (I was a teenager in the mid sixties and listened to
a lot of rock and saw many rock concerts in Boston and liked some of them).
BUT I loved those old musicals and film scores with the Big Bands!!!!
A freind who studied a lot with Joe Allard has a theory that the A tuning is
going up (442; 444) all over the world due to "sound" pollution, such as all
the traffic (cars, trucks) machines, airplanes, loud electronic music and
these loud noises that seem to be increasing yearly and their effect on our
ears.
I'm referring more to smaller ensembles and jazz/world music more than
symphonies although some symphonies I believe are tuning the A above 440!!
