I'm concerned that Joe said nothing about my modesty and good looks. I
received at least 31 proposals of marriage, 16 invitations for dates (two
from guys), and one invitation to an Abbot and Costello festival in
southeast Idaho. My greatest sadness is that I have come to the midwest and
cannot find one stinking White Castle Hamburger stand. I think America is
losing its cultual values by tearing down all the White Castle places.

Dan just spent the past three days at Iowa State University in Ames
giving lectures and meeting with classes and observing rehearsals.
It was a fantastic experience!!! He kept faculty and students
enthralled and dispensed more knowledge in 3 days than most of the
rest of us will learn in a lifetime. He is gracious and charming and
willing to talk to anyone about just about anything, but especially
Mozart. He prodded and cajoled students, but also kept them laughing
and learning. We are presenting a performance of some of the Gran
Partitta tomorrow evening, and Dan generously brought his own basset
horn and made it available to one of the student performers (she is
ecstatic). If you are in the Bradley area, by all means make it to
his presentations, but be sure to come prepared with questions (and
money to buy his books). And having already done one round of pizza,
we get to eat barbeque with him and Roseanne tonight!! Mark Sunday
and Monday on your calendars and go experience Dan.
