Take a look at the Groves Dictionary of Music under Partita. You will never
learn as well as when you do the research yourself.

Subject: [kl] Precisely what is a "partita"?

I've read dictionary definitions, and I haven't come away with a gut
understanding of what a "partita" is.

I remember that someone (perhaps Dan?) posted that Mozart's Gran
Partitta isn't truly a "partita". Perhaps this could be a tool in
explaining to me what a partita truly is?

Thank you
