I'm running out the door to go perform the Mozart Quintet. Can't think of a
better way to start the day!

I am performing with a string quartet from the Highland Park Strings. We're

performing for one of the dozens of sessions at my son's school, Highland
Park
High School, in a semiannual program they call "Focus on the Arts."

Last night, as a kick off, the high school orchestra and chorus gave a
Performance of famous opera choruses. The fun part was that both groups
were
augmented by members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago
Symphony
Chorus. The program was directed by Duain Wolfe, director of the Chicago
Symphony
Chorus. My son took turns as a member of the violin section and a bass in
the
chorus. He could not tell me which he enjoyed more!

This is an amazing four day program. It is sponsored by the community and
the high school every other year. Other presenters include actress Anna
Devere Smith (American President, West Wing), soprano Joanna Lattimore,
Ravinia Music Director James Conlon, dancer Lane Alexander, solo
percussionist
Evelyn Glennie, members of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, a discussion
with
former prima ballerina
Maria Tallchief, members of Second City, AND MY PERSONAL HERO, Harold
Ramis,
director of many films, including "Ghostbusters"!
