Subj: [kl] "Dark" Test (Leeson)

Coming in late to this discussion I have now just listened to Dan's
wonderful collection of examples, mostly limiting my response to "dark" or
"bright", (though "bright but stuffy" or
"dark, but in a bright register" appear here and there for the tricky ones
toward the middle of the list. For the "nationalities" purpose, it might
have been a simpler test without the low clarinets, simpler yet if all the
artists had been playing the same work.) But great fun. Thank you, Dan for
going to all this trouble.

Who is collecting the new "dark vs. bright" results? Should we mail them to
you, Wayne, since Danny is on the road eating pizza?

Margaret

PS Dan's collection of examples is so good that I request it remain
available for a while. I'd like to have my students listen to these things
just to hear the variety of playing styles
(not to speak of works).
