It's easy to find out what it is/how it's used via Google. Why it affects
your output isn't so easy; latency for a non-real-time application
shouldn't really be an issue. The chances are that Sibelius is optimized
to use an ASIO driver rather than the Windows driver and they figure if
you can spend the hundreds to buy Sibelius you won't flinch at spending 60
bucks to buy a compatible soundcard.

But I'm only guessing ...
