I figured that, we play 442 here in Belgium as well but it still doesn't
sound that high and bright... and higher than 444... ...could be a stretch.
Do they tune clarinets that high in the factories? The recording almost has
that chipmunk sound to it... better yet, somewhat the sound of an Eb
soprano.
In any rate, technical glitch/enhancement or not, it's very nice playing
technically speaking from both the soloist AND orchestra... I recently heard
it live and it turned out to be a disaster. I felt so sorry for everybody
workin' their little fingers and arms... and it just fell apart.
Musically speaking, however, it sounded almost exactly the same as the
recording from that test. Haven't heard much variation in interpretation in
any performances of the Francaix apart from the cadenzas. That I find to be
one of the downsides to that particular concerto. Not much room to make
music out of so much ink and speed on the page.
