I don`t know Finale so I`m not the ideal comparisonarsonistist. I have been
using Sibelius for 6 years, and I w/couldn`t live without it now. All I can
tell you is that there is not much that the manufacturers are not telling
you. Most of the top big publishers` use one or the other. They are simple
to use use simply, and they can also cope with advanced music processing
almost beyond what we could imagine.
I would suggest that you try them both a little more before you decide.

Subject: [kl] Music notation software
There has been some discussion on another list about different music
notation software, specifically Finale vs Sibelius, and I'm looking for some
input. I have been using Encore for some time, but it has a couple of
really bad annoyances, namely that slurs and dynamics don't "stick" - i.e.
they are not logically attached to a note or measure, so that when you
extract parts or reflow they don't always end up in the correct place, and
you have to manually go fix them.
I was told that Finale and Sibelius do not have these issues, so I'm
specifically looking for your gripes about them. Both are competent
products, but are just different, and I'm not quite swung either way after
having played with demos. What I really want to know is are there specific
things that one or the other just doesn't do right. Like not being able to
have a pickup bar, or you can't do cues, or when you extract a part from a
score the bar lines get messed up. I want to know what the sales material
isn't telling me... ;-)
