Both the cello and clarinet parts of the Opus 38 trio not surprisingly show
differences from the cello and clarinet parts of Opus 20. The Opus 38
cello part transposed for viola works well. I play it with a violist and
pianist friend each time my wife and I go to our mountain cabin. I dream
of getting a septet together (cl, bsn, hn, string quartet) sometime this
summer to play the Beethoven Op. 20, the Berwald and the Kreutzer but
getting that many live players together is nearly an impossible dream.
