I graduated from Oregon State University, back in the good old days when
our football program was neck-and-neck with Northwestern in the race for
that distinguished spot as the worst in the NCAA. We used to have a
problem similar to your Trojan issue, since our mascot was the Beaver.
In fact, I still have a headline from the school newspaper ("The Daily
Barometer") when we defeated the USC Trojans in a football game that
proved to be a grueling defensive battle. It seems an obvious truth:
"Beavers Outlast Trojans".
