My information came from one source - the preface to my score of the G minor
Symph. written by Gordon Jacob, an English composer and professor of
composition. I cannot find any other reference anywhere else so better
forget that one.
I did not suggest that clarinets replaced oboes but that Mozart modified the
oboe parts to accommodate their inclusion.
According to H.C.Robbins Landon in his book on Mozart's last year the
revisions seem to have been made almost immediately after completing the
autograph.
