It was Harold Wrights playing that set me on the path to Everett Matson.I
sent him 2 Ann Arbor Kaspars to look at and he refaced and worked the
baffles and chambers. He told me that one was an early example (stamped 109:
tip opening I guess) and the other much more recent with nothing stamped on
it whatsoever. I kept the early one . It played better and was probably a
Ched. He also sent me a Selmer HS* which he was using himself in the New
Jersey State Orchestra (his wife Billie played 2nd). I still have these and
consider myself fortunate to have such yardsticks. The kindest of men and a
superb craftsman. He was an advocate of the flat table and would probably
winced at the sight of a Zinner!
