Did the principal clarinettist off him with his own baton? Was it the
second trumpet, fed up with being told to play more softly? Was it
perhaps the piccolo player, who had been asked for a date one too many a
time, only to find her piccolo smashed in its case? How about the tuba
player...

I have way too much imagination for my own good.
