Well, Howarths had no trouble working on mine. Not for me to justify
their position, but they aren't a bunch of cowboys at all.

Since everyone is talking about Edgware clarinets, I'd like to ask a
question. I bought an old Edgware clarinet at an antique shop a
little over a year ago. It was missing its barrel, so I'm assuming it
probably had a crack and got thrown away at some point. The clarinet
played fairly well, but needed some work, so I took it to our local
band repairman. He looked it over but told me he couldn't work on it.
That amazed me, so I asked him why. He told me that the keys on it
were made of "pot metal" and broke very easily. Since he couldn't
repair or replace them if they broke, he wouldn't work on the clarinet.

Has anyone else had this problem? To me it's worthless to have a
clarinet that can't be repaired. I've been letting my eight year old
play on it, rather than turn it into a lamp or something. Any
suggestions?

Thanks,
Suzanne
