Unfortunately, your repairman is right. Pot metal (called that because
it is what they used to make pots out of) cannot be soldered because it
will melt! I had one such key do that while I tried to fix it. So
fixing a broken key is not possible. It must be replaced. It's a shame
that Edgewares, which actually play fairly nicely, used such cheap (in
both senses of the word) metal. Yet another example of CAVEAT EMPTOR.
This is why you should go to a reputable dealer to get a horn, or even
better ask a pro for advice before you buy.
