List,
I have this Conn metal clarinet and the serial number
is 514N-B-313214-L, and I cannot seem to find any info
on this particular model on the web. I see info on
524N and 534N but not 514N. Does anyone know of this
model?

It's quite resistant to play (almost unplayable
compared to a new Buffet), is this the same of other
Conns (I would assume not)? The pads look like they
are in good shape and seating well. The barrel looks
like it could be too long for the chamber. The silver
plated parts of both are 3/4 of an inch from each
other when I put the barrel in all the way. Is that
normal? Could that be the problem?

Thanks,
Robert Ladwig
