There are probably (more than?) a few people who can.

When I was at ClarinetFest in 2001 in New Orleans, my booth was right next
to Stephen Fox's. In addition to Dan's basset horn, Stephen had a number
of other clarinets on display including his reproductions of some early
models. Many people picked these up and tried to play them. I didn't
think most of them sounded very good. There were two exceptions, however.
One was a gentleman who I believe was from Puerto Rico (he had a full
beard, I think) and the other was Larry Combs. They sounded great.

Some people can play anything.
