Here's why there are differences in "regions of sound". It has to do with
not only the system of Clarinet being played, but also to do with the
acceptable tone that is taught by the teacher in that "region".

For example - and I'll use colors instead of names/regions:

In lessons with Mr. Red he tells his students that their tone is xxoo and
they should pick their reeds more carefully to get a better sound, and also
works with their tone so that they sound "acceptable to him", etc

Somebody in another region, country, etc. studies with Mr. Green. Mr. Green
happens to think that Mr. Red's sound is much too xxx, bright, dark, rotund,
whatever.... and proceeds to teach his students what is HIS preference to
tone and the philosophy to it. Also the reed adjusting and strength of reed
to use.
So Mr. Red's students are playing on #3 1/2 reeds and getting one type of
sound, Mr. Green's students are playing on #4 1/2 as he believes that you
should squeeze harder to get his version of an acceptable tone.

Now Mr. Green and Red are the 2 top teachers in their respective countries
so many, most players either studied with one of them directly or indirectly
through one of their students.

HENCE A DIFFERENT SOUND PER REGION BASED ON THE MAIN TEACHER'S PHILOSOPHY.

American, French, German - bring on the test. I'd love for you to prove me
wrong and then buy me a Pizza.

But if I do, I suggest
that no one will get more right than probability allows. Right
now I think the approach I'm considering is Oehler is German and
Boehm is French no matter where the player is from.
