First of all the one of the main reasons I want a bass pick up is to be able to put effects on the sound with midi it's not just about amplification. I'm also playing with other electronic intruments so to not have the bass miked properly would be silly.

I also have played really large outdoor gigs to 1000 people + so to to not have amplification is ridiculous. I actually do have a "proper" set up and play the instrument "correctly" I know a lot of professional musicians use "silly" electronics", Eddie Daniels to name one. What a completely arrogant post.

> For years I played with an amplified band on tenor sax, soprano sax, and clarinet in a large dancehall. I could be heard with a big clear sound throughout the entire building including side rooms, rest rooms, kitchen etc. with NO amplification, and no DEGRADATION of my sound with silly electronics. If your equipment is made and set-up properly and you play correctly there is NO need for a mic in almost ANY hall.

I have used a pick up before for klezmer music for clarinet but have never owned one. Ideally it would be something I could switch instruments with (sax, clarinet and bass clarinet) but I don't know how realistic that is and I know how hard it is to mike clarinets. Any suggestions?
