Subj: [kl] German sound: acoustical analysis
Date: Thu, 3 Mar 2005 16:27:44 -0500

I've found the discussion on "German sound" interesting, and followed some
of html links.

If I missed one that pointed to a detailed acoustical analysis of the
clarinet in various schools, pls point it out to me.

If such has not been done...would it be worthwhile to commission such a
study? I've visited the site below several times, and see it as a possible
starting point to find acousticians to do the analysis.

I'd be willing to donate $100 for such as study. Perhaps many here would
like to help, and perhaps the major clarinet manufacturers would donate too.
(Perhaps Buffet would like to extend the study to see if the Wurlitzer
really does produce a different sound, though I suspect they may have
already done the analysis.)

Although I'm proposing the idea, there is no way my work would permit me to
undertake organizing such an endeavor. Perhaps there are some here who are
in a situation to permit time-consuming involvement?

Best wishes,
Vann Joe Turner
