The organizations who want to do an updated edition of the Gran
Partitta have only two choices. Roger Hellyer's excellent
edition published in the UK is on, and mine published in Germany.
All the others, every single one, are all based on the 1875 B&H
edition which itself is based on the first edition of 1803, and
all are corrupt.

Normally, I would agree. In the context of this conference, I was
surprised
USC did not indicate the edition of the "Gran Partita" which was
used. The
University of Texas did indicate which edition of Handel's "Royal
Fireworks
Music" they used. Remember, this is the Collegiate Band Directors
National
Association. Collegiate band directors really do care about what
edition
they are hearing because they could easily be programming the
work next year.

Myself, I was just curious. Having recently purchased the score
to Dan's
edition, I would have liked to know if I was hearing the same
edition I own.
