Subj: [kl] General Warning Selmer C* bass clarinet mouthpieces
Date: Sat, 26 Feb 2005 22:16:04 -0500

I just got done measuring four brand new Selmer C* mouthpieces. Not one of
them has a flat, level table! NOT ONE.

Depending on where you hold your thumb on the measuring glass, you get a
facing length of 38 to 60 or infinity!

There are either "high spots" on the table that make the measuring glass
rock like a teeter-totter, or there is a "falling-away" toward the bottom of the
table, making the table a concave curve. Or both. Several I have sent back
as unusable.

It is generally accepted that Selmer makes the best commercial bass clarinet
mouthpiece.

But, c'mon guys! You can do better than that!!!!!
