In college we used to play clarinet trios at similar events and were rather
well received. We kept it light with Joplin tunes and the like. These were
not the greatest arrangements, but acceptable if performed with good
players. There are other trios and quartets that will work. I'm sure
others on the list could supply ample suggestions.

Hi list,
So my brother-in-law's engineering company puts on a cocktail party every
year at an oil convention. In the past they've always hired a pianist
through a contractor, but this year his bosses want something different and
don't want to pay to have a piano brought up to the room. So they were
thinking of something like clarinet and two or three other instruments.
I've never thought about cocktail parties since I've always considered that
piano territory. And the fact that they don't want a piano at all because
of the trouble and added expense makes it even more complicated thinking of
music.
Anyone have any ideas for light chamber music? clarinet and winds? strings?
anything?
