Subj: [kl] Varese scores sought

Hello friends,

Does anyone plan to visit a music library this weekend? One with scores to
two works by Edgar Varese, "Arcana" and "Ameriques"? I would be grateful if
someone could look at the heckelphone parts to these works and tell me one
simple thing, to wit, what are the highest and lowest notes requested in
each work.

These data are intended to make a last-minute logical point in a scholarly
article on the heckelphone, which is now in review by the editor. If you
can provide me with this information I will thank you in the paper, which
will appear in the next issue of the Journal of the American Musical
Instrument Society.

I would pop up to the UMass library except that my kids have me running
Bob's Taxi Service all day. It's great being a Dad.

Many thanks

Robert Howe
