Hi Klarinet List!

Recently I bought an antique Gomez Model Clarinet made by Boosey & Co
on e-bay and it arrived today. It is an interesting instrument with a
fingering system I know little about. In pulling out of my clarinet
books to find out what I can, I have found that little written about
the Gomez model clarinet, namely a couple of paragraphs in Rendall's
book. Rendall states that Manuel Gomez lived in London from the 1880's
through his death in 1930 and he developed this system based on the
full-boehm clarinet for Boosey.

I am curious about this model clarinet and wonder what any of you might
know about it. While giving broad dates for when Gomez resided in
London, Rendall doesn't state more specifically when this model was
developed or why. Are there any good sources where I might read more
about the model? Are there any method books or tutors written for the
Gomez Model? Who might have played a Gomez model clarinet? What were
the advantages of the Gomez model clarinet over the full-Boehm?

Many thanks for any insights or information any of you might have. Any
guidances towards good reference sources would be greatly appreciated!

- Kelly
