Subj: [kl] Follow up on my mouthpiece question of last year...
Date: Wed, 16 Feb 2005 10:06:09 -0500

Hi,

just thought it might be polite to give a quick follow up on my mouthpiece
question of November last year. I was complaining about a very hissy blowy
furry sound, particularly in the chalumeau. After getting complained at
about this again by the composer of some music I am playing in a small
theatre ensemble, I finally found a music shop which had some clarinet
mpcs. Vandoren 5RVs, 3 of them, 25 quid (50 USD) each. I am borrowing the
best of them now, and the horrible hissy blowy furry sound is gone! I
find the tone of my clarinet slightly more plasticy, with less (I feel)
bassness, or lower harmonics, or whatever (I couldn't prove it, no
equipment, but this is my feeling.). Anyway. It'll do for the group.
Thanks for all ideas and comments from before.

Dan

PS - It is a real stamped B&H Regent, btw, Lelia.
