Dear Erik ,
Perhaps you received a different batch of r-13 setup
testimonials than I did on this my first day of
joining. To be specific I was spammed just like by
....
"individuals" praising the work of one particular
company that uses "teflon" . To answer your question
, that patented material and processes include sheets
of various specification for use in industry, as an
additive to reduce friction in lubricants and is used
by too many repair techs because they are told that it
is "slippery". In many situations clock oils without
teflon produce faster key action than that with
teflon. The situation is worsened by the lack of
microlaping the finish of rubbery stainless steel
screws that many manufacturers use (to protect poorly
maintained instruments). Teflon oil makes those
scratch finished screws seem smoother, teflon in place
of thin cork seems to do the same. In some
applications industrial quality "teflon" sheet has
shown success, although cork and felt are thankfully
not yet extinct.
