Indeed, many of us have used large numbers of clarinets for decades without oiling---and Paul Laubin the oboe maker told me that one SHOULD NOT use oil---it causes cracking!
I live near the beach on Monterey Bay---our big problem is avoiding mold.

Many don't oil at all...and our clarinets have performed beautifully for
decades.
